Roofers started working this morning, so should have a new roof by the end of the day. Now I guess I'll have to get to work on the rest of the house.

Finally hired a reliable roofer. First one ripped me off so now this roof is going to be really expensive.

Closed on the 1 acre "notch" property today making a total of 13.5 acres in our plot.

The owner of the 1 acre agreed on our price, so looks like we'll be adding the "notch" to our land.

Had the septic tank inspected. Not so good. The land is low and there is a lot of ground water. Right now the septic tank is over-full so there was no use in pumping it. Will have to read up on septic tanks and solutions. The tank is also missing it's original top, but I think I can fabricate one.

Replaced the missing post on the patio

The owner of the 1 acre "notch" does want to sell, but wants $10,000. That is more than I want to spend on that. Will have to wait and see.

First day of actually doing a some work on the little house.



Replaced the missing post on the front porch. The one on the left. The porch hadn't sagged much and was pretty easy to put the new one in. Just cut to length and pound in with a hammer.

Busted out the bad ceiling in the hallway towards the back door. Sad that it looks better with no ceiling than with it.


Cleaned up the small slab near the house. I could build a shed on this.

Closed on the four acre property today. Has a house on it, though it is in poor condition, it should be salvagable.

The price has dropped on the four acres. I made an even lower offer and the sellers accepted. I guess we will be expanding to 12.5 acres. now. There is a one acre notch out owned by someone else. I'll see if they want to sell.

Four acres just east of our 8.5 acres came up for sale a few months ago. It has a small junky house on it. It would be nice to add to our existing land since this is adjacent, but it's priced to high..

Well after searching for two years we purchased 8.5 acres on Valley Road. There should be suitable home site here.
